The Bertin VF Nuclear HM-4 Hand Contamination Monitor is designed for monitoring radioactive contamination on personnel hands when entering or leaving controlled areas.
The system uses gas-less smart scintillation detectors and can be configured for the detection of alpha, beta and gamma-emitting radionuclides. Its detector geometry is optimised to provide high measurement efficiency, including demanding alpha contamination monitoring applications.
Advanced statistical measurement algorithms help minimise measurement times and provide high personnel throughput, making the HM-4 suitable for routine use in nuclear facilities, laboratories, nuclear medicine departments, waste management operations and other environments where radioactive materials are handled.
The HM-4 incorporates a user-friendly touchscreen interface, allowing operators to select stored measurement presets and quickly change parameters including alarm levels, radionuclides and measurement units. Integrated connectivity and data-management capabilities include Ethernet LAN, USB data export and a web interface for remote status monitoring. Volt-free relay outputs also allow the HM-4 to be integrated with access-control systems such as doors and other external equipment.
