HTSL 989 Recovery Tool Description
The HTSL 989 Recovery Tool is specifically designed to assist with the retrieval of a disconnected Se-75 source assembly from a Model 989 “Baby” SCAR exposure device using standard remote controls.Manufactured from stainless steel, the three-part tool includes a dowel punch which allows the roll-pins to be removed from the movable jaws of the Model 661 safety plug assembly. This provides access to the selector ring retainer and locking mechanism.
The retrieval tool can then be inserted through the selector ring hole into the source tube to make contact with the Model 550 source connector. Once the remote connection has been re-established, the source assembly can be retracted into the secured position.
The tool provides a dedicated recovery solution for situations where a source assembly has become disconnected, which may occur as a result of worn or damaged remote controls or incorrectly manufactured after-market controls.
